The gardens themselves

The Italian garden is the sort of formal, ordered space that seems to settle the mind almost by design. Clipped hedges, straight lines, a sense that everything is exactly where it ought to be.

Then there's the walled garden, tucked away and sheltered, the kind of spot that catches the sun and holds it.

Bring a flask if you like. Wear proper shoes for the trails. And if the mood takes you halfway round, the castle tour is there for the taking. No pressure either way.
